Did you know that there are 430 Jesuit high schools in 55 countries? Every Jesuit school, whether it is located in Japan or Detroit, embraces the philosophy of St. Ignatius Loyola, the Jesuits. The first Jesuit-run school was established in Messina, Italy in 1548, which makes Jesuit education the oldest secondary education program in the world. Since that time, Jesuit educators have dedicated themselves to the mission of educating the whole person - challenging students to achieve their full potential as well-rounded individuals. Nearly 500 years later, Jesuit schools all over the world have these characteristics in common:
Educational excellence: U of D Jesuit is renown in the Detroit Metro Area for its rigorous academic curriculum.
Care for the individual: At U of D Jesuit, our teachers are actively involved in the intellectual, moral, and spiritual development of each student.
Religious Experiences: At U of D Jesuit, we integrate masses, liturgies, retreats, and service work into our curriculum, so that every Cub grows in faith and application of that faith.
Opportunities for Reflection:The entire U of D Jesuit community stops each day to make an Examen of consciousness, to ponder the day, for each person to sift through feelings and actions so as to make better choices in living out life.
